We're excited as we head into a new year. 2011 seemed to be more of a year of preparation as we brought in 2 new members to the band which radically changed our sound. So it feels like 2012 is going to be a "getting back to work" kind of year.
With that in mind we've been looking for fresh insight into what God wants us to be doing. In the 9 year history of the band there's been a big shift in the types of opportunities available to us. 9 years ago there were a lot of Christian coffeehouses around that offered a lot of chances for us to minister. But it seems like those venues are either closing down or being poorly attended. So we really wanted to hear from God specifics of what we should be concentrating on and what opportunities we should be seeking out.
Here's what I believe we have heard: 1) Our main calling continues to be to raise up a sound of praise in the churches. More specifically we have been called to "redig the wells" in more traditional churches. These are churches that have a rich and powerful history that may have been somewhat lost over the years. So we want to go into these more traditional churches and relight a flame of passion for worship. 2) We also sense a new call to outreach ministry outside the church walls. We will be looking for opportunities in non-church settings such coffee shops, restaurants, jazz clubs or any place else we feel our music could find a place. To help make this happen we've been working on some positive secular music that can mix well with our own stuff. You'd be surprised how many popular songs on the radio could actually be songs of praise depending on to whom you're singing the words.
So please pray for us as we venture out. Pray that God would open up some doors of opportunity and that we would have sensitive ears to hear clearly where He's calling us.
